Book Review: He Should Be Mine by Jessica Jackman

He Should Be Mine: A Dark MM Mafia Romance (My Mobster)He Should Be Mine: A Dark MM Mafia Romance by Jessica Jackman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Devoured book. A slow burn page turner. This story although dark due to mafia/drug/murder content still had elements of romance. The pining, the thoughtfulness of one another, the sort of close proximity romance vibes. (view spoiler)

Went into this book with no expectation and walked away more than satisfied at the outcome of the book. HEA guaranteed, but it takes a while to get there. About 1/3 into the book I realize, duh it's gonna be a slow burn since the "bodyguard/jailer" is pining for his capo's toy, and I did know how it was going to play out, like was it going to be gritty and hard-earned or like shocking and bloody until their HEA or maybe even a cliffhanger since this series is slated for 4 books. Thankfully it all worked out, I was a bit iffy after my last dark romance that it wasn't going to be as a believable HEA.

Spice... 1.5

This is a first read of this author and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

::ARC Review:: Pretty Mess by Lily Morton

Pretty Mess by Lily Morton

📖 Available August 17th → getbook.at/Pretty-Mess

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a passionate love story set in London and Paris about two astonishingly different men and one very pretty mess.

Raced through this book, I didn't think I'd be so captured by Wes and Mac, without giving too much away, this book was smutty goodness with some romance thrown in. It's 5/5 for spice and I loved it.

As much as I hate one POV, I think it added to needing to read the book in near one sitting, we didn't see what was going on with Mac's POV, and had to slowly find out through what MAC was willing to share verbally.

This is not a new concept, the escort/billionaire romance, but I love the author's way of telling it. I haven't read much of Lily's books, but they don't disappoint when I do read them, and they've always been 5 stars. I really like the smut with romance thrown in.

Read this for the classic escort/billionaire romance, but with amazing banter and heartwarming eye rolling. Their chemistry was fire and I highly recommend this for a smutty good time.

::Just Finished:: Himbo Hitman by Saxon James

This book had been sitting on my TBR since June, I mean I even named it my June hopefuls meaning I hoped I'd be in the mood to read it, but atlas being a mood reader, it didn't strike me until recently.

I didn't know what to expect honestly when I got started, but as I continued reading I realized I was in for an over the top fun, much like the chaos brigade, the Queer Collective, except it was just Perry all on his own.

The supporting cast of the baddie bunch and Lars the astrology queen just added to the fun of the book.

This story is not be to taken too seriously and it was just the distraction that I needed from real life.

Recommend for those seeking a fun, and over the top antics with a little bit of mystery, suspense, and I cannot believe this is happening book. You won't regret falling in love with Perry.

Book Review: Pit Stop by Cora Rose

Pit StopPit Stop by Cora Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The stars should just be peppers or even just eggplants. This was such a smutty mm omegaverse with no mpreg, and some plot story. I loved it!!! It was a nice way to spend my Sunday. I could not put it down once I got started, their chemistry was on fire, and I loved such a possessive yet caring alpha.

When the third act breakup happened, I nearly cried. I was broken.

Good job Cora Rose. This is the kind of omegaverse I like. A smart outspoken omega, with a possessive hot as hell alpha. I had been averse to omegaverse after reading a toxic relationship of one, but thankfully I didn't stay away from this one.

I look forward to more stories from this series.

::Book Review:: Volley by Crea Reitan

This book started strong.

I love them meeting in that close proximity way on Kala Island, then that new relationship feel of getting to know someone, even the adding a third was sweet and exciting, but once they got back to reality it started feeling like a bit PSA-y for polyamory relationships and sex positive for adult content creators. Most likely that was what the author wanted to achieve, but I also didn't want to be taken out of the story like that.

So for me, the last 1/3 of the story became a chore because there was so much to work out, Alka coming clean to the school about his relationship with Ruby, Oscar figuring out what to do with his content creating now that he's thinking about kids. Ruby dealing with that abusive ex.

Spice... was 2. There's a scene where they all get together which is creative thus the higher than 1.5 rating, but overall this book did not feel that spicy to me, as they took it a bit slow to get to know each other, like Alka and Ruby was not hooking up, they were in it to get to know each other, so it was not spicy for most of the part while they got to know each other.

As always reading the author's
book requires like a murder map of who is connected to who, I always seem to get lost in the cast, and honestly I just let it go and don't try to figure out who is connected to who or who has a story or not.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this book for what it was, but I'm not sure I'd read it again, hence the middle rating.
